Summers End

We have had a lovely warm and sunny summer here at Apple Blossom Barn
The kids have played on the long evenings, making dens in the wood, running through the sun scorched fields
of long grass with a picnic basket..

We spent some time on a little Island off
France called ile de Re it was so beautiful
with everything painted in muted greys and blues and stunning hollyhocks everywhere.
We stayed in a canvas lodge on stilts
It really was glamping with a little kitchen
and a little bathroom we all loved it!

So as summer ends and we prepare for
Back to School time and the start of September it is with lovely memories of
a wonderful summer ..,

Aga joy

Hello all I hope you are all well wherever you are It is a dull windy wet day here in my part of Ireland
But the daffodils are doing their best to show me that spring is around he corner but at the moment it feels like a really big corner!!
But I am in love yes head over heals my 70 something year old AGA is finally installed she is a joy warming
the kitchen, warming up little ones pyjamas and slow cooking heart warming comforting stews
It will take a time to get used to her ways especially with baking so if any one can share  some aga friendly
recipes that would be great!

My Springer Spaniel Jessie

Oh and did I need to mention that all dogs love an Aga.........

Room to Inspire.......

Hello I do hope everyone is well?
We have had some really wonderful Autumnal days the last while
Sunny days with bright blue skies
crisp misty evenings with amber sunsets
then this morning is dull grey no not  nice grey like french grey
so I need to be inspired as I am off to the paint shop
so this afternoon you will find me collecting the children from school with paint in my hair no matter how
careful I am it always happens.....

So Have a lovely day I hope you enjoyed some of my favourite rooms...

Autumn in the Country

Hello all! I hope you are embracing Autumn it is probably my favourite season, my birthday is in this month,
I love the sky at this time of year, the golden hazy sunsets with a bite in the evening air, it is a nostalgic month and so much so in the countryside.
The children have been filling up baskets in the ancient orchard in front of our cottage, Pixie and Willow the naughtiest pigs in the west are enjoying the wind fallen apples.

So it is evenings tucked up by the fire and I have to say I am loving Downton Abbey so gorgeous, all that upstairs downstairs glory on television. So all the best for now.
